About Kate (she/her)
My name is Kate and I'm an accredited mental health social worker, psychotherapist and music educator. I have a Masters of Social Work from RMIT University and have worked in mental health for around 5 years. I established Diverge Emerge Holistic Psychotherapy in mid 2026.
I have a diagnosis of AuDHD and bring my own lived-experience of neurodivergence. I am continuing to learn more about neurodivergent mind-bodies and am always learning about how to support, empower and affirm neurodivergent identities in the therapeutic space.
As a social worker in mental health, I work from a social justice-oriented approach which is feminist, intersectional, anti-racist, sexuality-informed and neuro-affirming. I have taught trauma-informed practice and anti-oppressive approaches at RMIT University as a sessional academic tutor to social work and psychology students.
As a professional, I have worked with many survivors of family violence, abuse and trauma and work in a radically trauma-informed, collaborative and goal-centred way that builds mental health literacy so that clients can hopefully name and describe the approaches I am using.
Some of the therapy approaches I utilise include:
-
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy
-
CBT based Exposure and Response Prevention Therapy
-
Compassion-focused Therapy
-
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy
-
Neuro-affirming skills training
-
Pyschoeducation
-
Humanistic counselling
-
Somatic approaches
In my spare time I love watching sci-fi, documentaries and playing music. I'm a huge dog lover and own a blue greyhound and love working with my companion animal by my side.
